The Department of Anthropology, University of Waterloo, invites applications for a tenure-track or tenured position at the rank of Assistant, Associate or Full Professor in the area of the Anthropology of Religion, with a research focus on Contemporary Islam in Asia, preferably outside the Middle East.
Candidates must have a completed PhD and a proven record of excellence in research, teaching, and graduate supervision commensurate with stage of career. The Department of Anthropology has a flourishing undergraduate program and a Master’s program in Public Issues Anthropology, and the successful candidate will be expected to contribute substantially to both.
The candidate will also teach at least one course on Islam for the Department of Religious Studies, and will be offered the opportunity to participate in the joint Laurier-Waterloo Ph.D in Religious Studies which focuses on Religious Diversity in North America. Salary commensurate with qualifications and experience. Review of applications will begin on November 30, 2013 and continue until the position is filled. The anticipated start date for the position is July 1, 2014.
